One Two Three California

Paul Wyld

A deep and ghostly longing for home, painting the Golden State not as a paradise, but as a beautiful, dream-filled mirage where the lines between reality, visions, and the supernatural completely blur.

Paul Wyld is an alternative indie folk and country singer-songwriter whose work sophisticatedly bridges the gap between classic 1960s acoustic storytelling and contemporary sonic experimentation. An established performer and literary voice, Wyld has spent years cultivating an evocative narrative style, culminating in his self-titled debut album, Paul Wyld I. His compelling live performances have earned him opening slots for acclaimed icons such as Neko Case and Dave Alvin, as well as a notable broadcast appearance alongside the late folk legend U. Utah Phillips.

Beyond his musical catalog, Wyld is an accomplished author, having penned a groundbreaking, definitive book on the spiritual life and artistry of Jim Morrison. This profound immersion in poetic, boundary-pushing art directly informs his songwriting, establishing Paul Wyld as a vital, intellectual force in today’s independent music landscape.

Reality

is what has been concealed from us for so long.

– Jim Morrison

In 2017, I read Gary Lachman's The Secret Teachers of The Western World. Poet and Doors vocalist Jim Morrison would pop into mind. His life mirrored the lives of these secret teachers. It was not long afterward that I decided to write my first book about this. Jim Morrison, Secret Teacher of The Occult: A Journey to The Other Side was published by Inner Traditions on September 10, 2024.
